Grant Funding Programs

The following grant funding programs may be available to assist in defraying the cost of training.

DCEO Incumbent Worker Training Program

  • Eligibility: Must be an Illinois company in a funding-eligible category
  • Participants: Must be full-time employed by Illinois location
  • Application Deadline: Ongoing
  • Funding: Pays a percentage of all training costs (including books, instruction, and materials)
  • Duration: through December 31, 2013

WIA Incumbent Worker Training Grant

  • Eligibility: Must be an Illinois company in a funding-eligible category
  • Participants: Must be full-time employed by Illinois location
  • Application Deadline: Ongoing
  • Funding: Pays a percentage of all training costs (including books, instruction, and materials)
  • Duration: through June 30, 2013

WIA (Workforce Investment Act) Training Programs

  • Eligibility: Dislocated Workers
  • Application Deadline: Ongoing
  • Funding: A training voucher (ITA-Individual Training Account), issued by the local IETC (Illinois Employment and Training Center), that can be used to pay for approved classes offered by BIS; Amount varies by training program and WIA office
  • Duration: Until training program is completed and voucher is expended
  • Contact BIS for more information; Each individual must apply personally

Secretary of State Literacy Grant Program

  • Eligibility: Any Illinois Company
  • Application Deadline: March 15
  • Funding: Grant covers training in Math, Reading, and ESL, planning, coordination, and curriculum development; Pays up to $15,000 per grant
  • Duration: Fiscal Year 7/1-6/30
  • BIS will assist with the application

Trade Adjustment Assistance

  • Eligibility: For employees who have lost their jobs because their company was negatively affected by foreign trade
  • Application Deadline: Ongoing
  • Funding: Participants can receiving funding for a wide variety of IDES-approved programs, job search and relocation services; Participants can also receive extended UI benefits.
  • Duration: Federal Fiscal Year 10/1-9/30
